ANSWERS TO COMMONLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Why is receiving your Internet connection through fiber so important?

With ultra-fast Gigabit high-speed Internet service from FMTC, you can receive up to a 1000 Megabits per second Internet connection. This is available to any customer in our serving area where we have upgraded to a high-quality FMTC fiber connection.

What does this do for current and future local Business and Residential customers?

It gives you access to fast, reliable, nearly unlimited speeds to power the Internet connected devices in your business or home. With a Gig connection from FMTC you can stream high definition movies on multiple devices, game online and work from home, all simultaneously. The Internet itself demands more and more from our Network, and the need for larger bandwidth continues to increase. In addition, national studies have shown that fiber increases property values.

As we continue to expand our Fiber Optic Network, you, the customer will reap yet another one of the benefits that FMTC has been adding to our community for over 100 years. All of this with no phone required!

What is the difference between a traditional landline and a VoIP Voice connection?

VoIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) is an alternative to traditional landline phone service. Instead of phone coming through your landline connection, it is a voice line that comes in through your Internet connection. VoIP is a great way to save money when you have Internet service with FMTC. Traditional residential landlines are approximately $31 a month plus calling features and long distance. VoIP is approximately $19 a month and you will receive FREE calling features and the first 500 minutes of long distance each month for FREE!

Some key points to know: In most cases, there is no need to buy new phones, with the exception of rotary or very old phones. Your computer does not need to be on when you use your VoIP voice line and you will use your phone in the same way. It is important to note, that without a battery backup, your VoIP voice line will not work during a power outage, but battery backup options can be purchased through FMTC or you can provide your own.
